Brief Exposition on my Part:

The DCEU movies in my opinion have mostly been flops with too much studio interference that makes the end result less then desirable. I didn't want to start this review off on a negative note however I believe that it’s important for me to address my opinion on the DCEU before discussing this film because it might help explain my thoughts towards this movie as a whole. With that being said this is now my favorite addition to the DCEU to this date.

The Story:

a brief summary of the story, The Suicide Squad is sent to a South American island called “Corto Maltese” in order to destroy a laboratory known as Jötunheim.

The Review:

The exact reason I like this movie might be the exact reason people dislike it, it is very self aware that it is a comic book movie and that's exactly what makes this movie enjoyable to me! Not every movie to me has to be a nitty gritty thrilling drama with super compelling and complex characters. That being said the characters in this movie are still complex but the movie manages to have that fun comic book feel. Some action scenes are over the top but it’s a comic book movie you can’t be too hard on it for that. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the story (for the most part) and overall I had a good 2 hours, and not to mention the R rating works so well for a movie filled with comic book “villain's”. Now the one thing I didn't enjoy was the serious to funny out of nowhere that got tiring a few times but definitely did not by any means ruin my enjoyment.

Overall I would give this film a 7.5/10. It was a good fun comic book movie! It just goes to show with minimal studio interference and trust within a director a good movie can come out of it!
